John Murray, III, went to Florida a lot as a kid.
The first thing he would always do is visit the Kilwins chocolatier and ice cream shop in Fort Lauderdale.
“I had to get a combination of fudge brownie and cake batter ice cream,” he tells Greater Long Island. “I was addicted to this stuff.”
The problem was, he wasn’t always in Florida to feed that addiction.
So, he brought Kilwins to him.
In 2012, the Wantagh native opened his own Kilwins franchise in Babylon Village. It was the company’s first location in New York State. Murray followed that up in 2015 with a Kilwins in downtown Patchogue.
He’s learned a lot along the way, too.
In this installment of Nosh on This by GLI-TV, Murray teaches us some history, takes us through the process of making the finest fudge, and lets us try Kilwins’ propriety ice cream.
