About 100 people showed Wednesday night to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts to get a glimpse of conceptual designs presented to the audience for the village’s coming $5 million parks overhaul.
The headliner presentation was Shorefront Park, where landscape architects with Quennell Rothschild and Partners pitched a plan that would see a small beach established for activities like beach volleyball, hills and berms added to the existing walking trail, the ball field reconfigured and a water park added for kids.
If you missed the hearing, you can scroll down to see the conceptual designs — what the landscape architects called “bubble diagrams” for the village’s parks, and additional details.
Included above is a rendering of what Shorefront Park could look like in the future. In pointing to the rendering Wednesday night, one resident said:
“The only thing that’s missing is a picture of me sitting on a bench with a big smile on my face.”
These plans are preliminary, officials stress. Contact Patchogue Village to offer additional comment and feedback.
The $5 million came as a donation to the village, with $500,000 of that going toward the theater.
