Long Island’s own Gamblers’ debut album “Small World” is set for release on Sept. 25
Gamblers is a music anomaly, a indie pop rock band with melodic song writing and a hip-hop sensibility.
The normal migration for musicians is from the suburbs. They’ll usually leave the manicured lawns to head west to the concrete jungle, typically Brooklyn, to make their musical mark.
Gamblers are a story of reversed migration. They headed back home to their roots to connect with childhood friends and others aligned with their musical expression. That became their foundation for their nationwide leap.
The group now consists five native Long Islanders and one from Brooklyn:

James Usher, 36, Sound Beach (lead Guitarist)
Bryan Carpentieri, 27, Massapequa (Keyboard)
Nick Rufalo, 27, Patchogue (guitar, backing vocals)
Doug Berns, 32, Brooklyn (Bass)
Johnny Hoblin, 30, Massapequa (Drums)
McManus’s voice fills with passion as he speaks of the major distribution and the incredible amount of attention the album is receiving both nationally and around the globe.
Brazil and Russia are expressing great interest through Spotify and YouTube, through which their first video release has attracted over 80,000 views already.
The excitement around the debut is not only a testament to the creative energies that make up this burgeoning indie pop band, but has brought positive attention to the deserving Long Island music scene.
