Everything to know for igloo dining this winter in Patchogue

Update: Drift 82 is now also offering igloo dining for 2021.

The heated igloo craze isn’t going anywhere.

In fact, the idea of dining in a dome has only gotten more popular amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as people can go for dinner and drinks in absolute privacy.

And some places, such as RHUM, have shifted from igloos to little greenhouses, which RHUM is calling cottages. Below are all the current igloo-friendly spots in Patchogue, with full booking details, brought to you by the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.

BETTER MAN DISTILLERY, 161 River Avenue

The distillery on River Avenue has just announced the arrival of five brand-new igloos for the winter.

Each has a different theme, such as Basement Hang or Endless Summer, and specialty cocktail. The igloos will start becoming available to rent at $99 for two hours on Sunday, Dec. 13.

The igloos fit up to 8 people and all orders are placed via text, with your VIP server dropping everything off outside — so it’s contactless.

The igloos can be booked (online only) anytime during business hours.

RHUM, 13 East Main Street

This little collection of four pop-up “cottages” now come together above Main Street for what RHUM is dubbing its Seasonal Rooftop.

Reservations are available daily.

It’s $100 for Friday through Sunday (all other days are 50 percent off), for 90-minute increments. That gets four guests in the cottage and the first round of drinks is free. It’s then $25 each per additional guest, with a maximum of six. The full dine-in menu is available.

RHUM asks that people call 631-569-5944 ahead to book. There will be 30 minutes between each reservation for sanitization.

THE OAR STEAK & SEAFOOD GRILLE, 264 West Avenue

The Oar has four options this winter on Patchogue River.

First, there are two “cozy lounge igloos” with a special igloo menu of apps and small plates (posted online). Then there are two “dining snow globes,” where guests order from The Oar’s full dinner menu.

The entry fees for all four are $75 on weekdays, Tuesdays through Thursdays, and $150 for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Those fees cover your party’s first round of drinks — with a maximum of six guests — and access to a special winter igloo cocktail menu.

To book an igloo or snow globe, call 631-654-8266, M-F.

THE TAP ROOM, 114 West Main Street

The shrub-lined courtyard at The Tap Room in downtown Patchogue is now home to a heated igloo that could fit up to eight people.

The cool news is there are no fees; it’s like sitting anywhere else in the two-story restaurant and pub. But it’s first come first serve!

The full menu, craft beer and cocktail menu is available in the igloo.

There is a heated outdoor tent that’s available, too, all winter.
