Helping animals while enjoying a selection of vinos.
That’s what’s on tap for a new virtual event hosted by The Fire Island Animal Welfare Society.
The nonprofit is collaborating with Texas-based woman-owned business, Scout & Cellar Clean Crafted Wines, to host “Witch Wine on the Web.”
The wine tasting will be over Zoom on Nov. 1 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
To participate in the event, click here to place your order and select the “Scout Sampler Pack” for $32, plus tax and shipping. Additional items may be added and any order over $99 receives free shipping.
In order for the wine to arrive on time, participants should place their orders by Oct. 16. You must be 21 years or older to participate.
This event is dedicated to “the care of free-roaming animals” who inhabit Fire Island, with a focus on the communities of Ocean Beach, Corneille Estates, Summer Club, and Robbins Rest.

FIAWS provides hands-on animal rescue efforts year-round, as well as feeding, medical care, boarding, adoption placement, and trap-neuter-release services.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, their annual fundraising event was put on hold, which is a crucial source of the group’s annual operating budget.
“Without that revenue, there is no money for animal food or medical bills to care for the island’s resident animals over the winter,” said John McCollum, president of FIAWS.
Kerry Menger, an independent consultant for Scout & Cellar Clean Crafted Wines, approached the organization with the idea of the virtual wine tasting and is helping out FIAWS by hosting the online event.
