Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that zoos, museums and movie theaters operating within New York State can expand their capacities starting Monday, April 26.

In this morning’s press briefing, Cuomo said museums and zoos can increase their capacity to 50 percent. Movie theater capacity will increase to 33 percent — all while maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols.

Starting May 19, indoor large arenas can increase their capacity to 25 percent, around the time of the NBA and NHL playoffs.

“It’s about pivoting from COVID close down, to post-COVID reopening,” Cuomo said. “There’s a season for everything, and this is the season for renewal, for change.”
