El Toro returns to the ring this weekend with one goal in mind: get to the double-digit win total.
Bellport boxing sensation Alex Vargas (9-0, 3 KOs) faces off against Jorge Alberto Careaga (4-4) this Saturday at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando.
This is Vargas’ first fight of the new year.
Unlike most, Vargas had a great 2020, knocking out his last two opponents while going a perfect 4-0 over the last 12 months.
“I feel like I’ve become a much better fighter now,” said Vargas on his growth since becoming a pro in 2018.
To stay in top shape, the combatant trains with word-class trainer Andre Rozier, who has worked with top boxers such as Richard Commey, Daniel Jacobs, Chris Algieri and more.
“Training and sparring with world champions and top contenders every week forces you to become better,” said Vargas.
He looks to show off his improvements each fight.
Over his last two fights, he’s knocked out both of his opponents, including an impressive first-round finish during his last fight in November.
