Seeing a movie this weekend won’t just be fun for the family, but it’ll be for a good cause.

The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County has been hosting its own drive-in theater as of this month and is using it as a fundraising event for the playhouse. For $35 per car, $25 of the fee will go towards supporting the organization.

Compared to other drive-in movies playing across Long Island, the Gateway boasts that it has the largest outdoor projection surface — measuring at 20×40 feet — and plays on a hard surface instead of an inflatable screen.

Last Saturday at 9 p.m., “Beetlejuice” — starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder — played in the parking lot, with its audio available through FM radio.

Here are some things to know:

All tickets must be purchased before arrival. There will be no on-site sales. Arrive 30 minutes before showtime and have your tickets ready. Download the PDF beforehand and don’t use a screenshot of the ticket.

Cars will be directed to parking locations according to state and local guidelines. You are directed to stay in your car, and if you must leave, masks are required.

Restrooms in the theatre lobby will be open. Attendants will be on duty and enforcing safe distancing protocols. One person will be allowed at a time and all touchpoints will be cleaned and sanitized after each use.

You’re encouraged to bring your own refreshments, as none will be available for purchase at the theater.

Movies “Some Like It Hot,” “Mary Poppins,” “The Incredibles” and “Jaws” will be playing throughout this week.
