The ongoing fundraising efforts to help Patchogue restaurants feed local hospital workers have caught the attention of News 12 Long Island.
The Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce’s restaurant committee is coordinating daily deliveries to Stony Brook and Long Island Community hospitals, with GreaterPatchogue.com sponsoring the efforts.
Insinga interviewed PeraBell Food Bar’s Scottie Campbell and Bobbique’s Eric Rifkin outside Donatina before speaking with GreaterPatchogue publisher Michael White. She then headed over to the hospitals.
The funds being raised, nearly $25,000 online alone, help the local restaurants and the frontline hospital workers alike.
“It’s really rewarding,” Campbell said. “You got to see the faces on these nurses when they come and get the food. They’ve been working tireless hours, and they really do appreciate what we’ve been doing.”
Teachers Federal Credit Union also donated $5,000.
