The Gateway’s much-anticipated run of the smash-hit Broadway musical Kinky Boots is fully underway at Patchogue Theatre for Performing Arts.
The show premiered in Patchogue Aug. 30 and closes after Sept. 14. Click here to purchase tickets.
The original Broadway production took home six Tony Awards, the most of any show in the season, including Best Musical, Best Score (Cyndi Lauper), Best Choreography (Jerry Mitchell), Best Orchestrations (Stephen Oremus) and Best Sound Design (John Shivers).
Kinky Boots, inspired by true events and the original 2005 British film of the same name, also won the Grammy award for Best Musical Album.
What’s it about?
From The Gateway:
KinkyBoots takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son.
With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos.
Charlie Price is played by Lukas Poost in his Gateway debut. Poost appeared in National Tours of Shrek and A Christmas Carol.
Terry Lavell plays Lola, also in his Gateway debut. Lavell appeared in the Broadway Company of La Cage Aux Folles and National Tours of Hairspray (Las Vegas) and Smokey Joe’s Café.
Lauren is played by Claire Adams in her Gateway debut.
The musical is the work of four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (book) and Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper.
Tickets start at $59 with a special student rush price of $35 the day of performance with a valid student ID.
