Officer Robert Burgos had approximately nine minutes to help.
It was 2:51 a.m. on Monday, Labor Day, when a 911 call came in for a 29-year-old in active labor in her Patchogue home.
Officer Burgos arrived soon after and assisted Edith Punin give birth to a baby girl, Kayla Martiza, who was born at 3 a.m.
The Suffolk County Police Department’s public information office announced the successful delivery to the public later this morning, and released these photos.
The mother and baby were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Patchogue Ambulance and are in good condition, according to police.
