The forecast looks fabulous for summer’s Alive on the River finale in Patchogue, with clear skies and highs in the 80s.
“This really is the farewell to summer,” said John Sarno, with the Patchogue chamber’s riverfront committee, which runs the waterfront festivals. “And this could be the last warmest day of the year. What better way to spend it on the river, where each location will be hosting live music?”
Each festival offers live music with no cover starting at 5 p.m. at Drift 82, The Oar Steak & Seafood, Off Key Tikki, Dublin Deck and the Harbor Crab Co. (Note: Dublin Deck starts charging a cover at 8 p.m.)
Water taxies also run up and down the river, making stops at the above restaurants and Island View Marina. It’s $10 for unlimited rides from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
It’s a “Luau on the River” theme for Thursday night’s festival, Aug. 29, so dress accordingly.
The event is being sponsored being Titos vodka, Red Bull and Blue Point Summer. Ask for those items for drinks specials.
This was the second season for the Alive on the River series.
“And it was an amazing summer,” said Sarno, also a co-owner at Drift 82. “We’re already planning bigger and better events for next year.”
