and Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts are joining forces for families this summer with the first-ever Kids Summer Movie Series on Main Street.

Things get rolling at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, with the screening of Disney’s Mary Poppins at Patchogue Theatre, which used to screen movies back in the day.

“This is perfect for families looking for activities with their kids during the day, and also for the summer camps,” said Patchogue Theatre spokesperson Bernie Fabig.

The kids’ movies will then run every Wednesday through Aug. 8, always at 2 p.m.

“We all know kids hate being bored,” said GreaterPatchogue publisher Michael White. “While it shouldn’t be on parents to keep them entertained 24-7, there’s often a lot of time during the day in summer. These classic stories present a great opportunity to connect with our kids with some of our own childhood favorites.

“So we jumped at the chance to sponsor this series along with the theater.”

Mary Poppins will be followed by Parent Trap (1961) on July 18, then Peter Pan (2003) on July 25, Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 ) on Aug. 1, and Disney’s animated 101 Dalmations (1961) on Aug. 8. Tickets are $10 at the door. The group rate is 10 percent off for 20 or more.

Patchogue Theatre is located at 71 East Main Street across from the library.
