A wind advisory didn’t stop the captains of nearly 30 boats from heading down the Patchogue River with their vessels decked out in Christmas lights Sunday night.
Tradition is tradition, after all, and this was the 23rd year of the Christmas Holiday Boat Parade in Patchogue.
Thousands flock to the shorelines each year to watch the boats.
The 2016 installment even saw the season’s first snowfall.
This year’s theme is a Southern/Country Christmas, as determiend by the organizers: the Patchogue Riverfront Committee, Inc., of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce.
Last year, greaterpatchogue.com judged the light competition, but this year we hopped aboard the 55-foot-long Salt Talk party boat and well, we partied. We also managed to take some photos (below).
Salt Talk, captained by John Everitt of Brookhaven Hamlet, was later crowned winner of the Best Use of Lights Category.
The other winners were:
Best Overall | Leja Therapy, captained by Bill Schatz
People’s Choice | Summer Winds, captained by Andrew Meyerwitz
