Steven Munoz and his family got a warm welcome to Patchogue Village Friday at a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for their Amazing Olive that opened on East Main Street this month.
This is their second olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop. Their first location opened in Port Jefferson in 2012.
Steven Munoz is spearheading the efforts at the Patchogue location.
He was presented with certificates of congratulations from state Senator Tom Croci’s office, as well as county Legislator Rob Calarco, who said the Amazing Olive is exactly the type of business many people in Patchogue have been hoping for.
“We like having these small retail shops; we like having these boutique shops,” he said. “This is something that we’ve all been saying has got to come to Patchogue as part of the revitalization.
“And it’s a testament to all the things that are happening.”
Munoz thanked his family for making the Amazing Olive in Patchogue possible, pointing out his dad helped with construction, his mom taught him about olive oils and vinegars, and his girlfriend worked hard — even through the Fourth of July weekend — to help get the place open in time for the summer busy season.
“I love you all,” he said. “Let’s just have a good time and celebrate.”
