After Friday’s coverage about a hero police officer who saved a East Patchogue woman’s life, joined the ranks of Newsday, Channel 12, CBS New York, and other regional news outlets.


By that story’s (and now others) inclusion in Google News., which has been producing high-quality content out of Patchogue and the surrounding areas since July 2015, was accepted to Google News through the Google News Publisher Center on Friday.

Among other things, this means anyone signed up for Google Alerts related to the villages and hamlets within the coverage area will have our stories emailed to them daily, weekly, or as they’re published.

And we’re publishing a lot — just check out our archives.

“I’ve been looking forward to this day,” said the site’s publisher, Michael White. “Now everyone in the area, especially those not so engaged in social media, can sign up for Google Alerts and look forward to finding top-notch writing and reporting about their neighbors and their neighborhoods in their inboxes every day.”
