Correction: An earlier version of this article indicated this was the first such event here. It was not.

Artists from all parts of Long Island and beyond, 32 in all, flocked to the South Shore for last month’s Paint the Great South Bay event.

They painted outdoors, a mode of art called en plein air, from Smith Point Park to the Fire Island Lighthouse.

Their works, 54 in all, are now available for viewing — and purchase — at Paper Cup Studios in Bellport.

Organizer Gina Lento said four pieces of art have already been sold.

Despite its name, participants weren’t restricted to painting the actual bay. Many chose to paint other aspects of the bayside communities. Ms. Lento, for example, painted Varney’s Restaurant (above) in Brookhaven, as well as the Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue, a piece that already sold.

The exhibit, which benefits the South Bay Art Association scholarship fund, runs through Sept. 27.
